Up Auditions

We are looking for actors for our May 4 - 19, 2012 production of Up, by Bridget Carpenter.  Joan Brooks will direct.  Performances will take place in the Drury Theatre at The Bartell (113 E. Mifflin Street, Madison).

Up is based upon the true story of "Lawnchair Larry," who flew a lawnchair using 41 helium balloons.  This is NOT the Pixar animated film!

On the best day of his life, Walter Griffin built a flying machine that reached the clouds. Ever since, he's tried to recapture that moment of feeling completely free. His son Mikey dreams of a different path to freedom: getting rich. His wife Helen dreams of a husband who will keep his feet on the ground.  Up is a quirky, bittersweet tale about an American family trying to escape the boundaries of the everyday by harnessing the power of the imagination.

Auditions:  Auditions will be held on Sunday, February 26 and Monday, February 27 at 7:00 pm in the Ejue Theatre at the Bartell (113 E Mifflin Street).   If needed, callbacks will be on Tuesday, February 28 at 7:00 pm.

What to prepare:  Auditioners will read from the script -- no need to prepare a monologue.  Please download and complete an Audition Form.

Schedule: In general, rehearsals will be Sunday through Thursday evenings from 7 pm to 10 pm.  Rehearsals will run from roughly March 25 through May 3, 2012.
