Next: Sarah Ruhl's The Clean House

MTG's next production, opening November 6, 2015, is The Clean House by the wonderful playwright Sarah Ruhl, author of Dead Man's Cell Phone.  Directed by Betty Diamond and running at the Bartell Theatre through November 21st.

Matilde, the Brazilian housekeeper of a married couple who are both doctors, hates housework.  She really wants to be a stand-up comedian.  Lane, the lady of the house, has a sister who loves housecleaning, and she takes over the cleaning so Matilde can work on creating jokes, which she sometimes delivers in Portuguese.  Trouble comes when Lane’s husband reveals that he has found his soul mate in a cancer patient he has treated. This wildly funny play is a whimsical and poignant look at class, comedy, and the true nature of love.

MTG Opens its 70th Season with THE BOY FRIEND

Julie Andrews as Polly ("Poor Little Pierrette"). 1954

Julie Andrews made her Broadway debut in the 1954 production of THE BOY FRIEND by Sandy Wilson.  The Guild has performed this show 3 other times: 1957, 1973, and 1987.

It has largely been forgotten in the last 20 years - undeservedly!  We are bringing back this confection for a 9-performance run, from Sept. 11 - Sept. 26.  Don't miss it!
